jazz band

The Jazz Band is a big band style ensemble for students who wish to learn more about jazz style and theory and improvisation. The jazz band follows the basic big band instrumentation but performs a wide variety of different styles of music, ranging from swing, Latin, and funk. A considerable part of our daily jazz rehearsals goes to the development of jazz improvisation, which all the members of the group learn to do.  The jazz band is an auditioned group and performs several concerts yearly as well as at many community events around the Helena and Shelby County area.
